Swing à la Django – Gypsy Jazz Abend special guest: Roby Lakatos

25. April @ 20:30 - 23:30

25€ – 30€

Swing à la Django is an innovative originally six-membered band, who have created a special style-mix in their music harmonizing gypsy swing, authentic bossa nova, Hungarian folk music, French chansons, tango and jazz. This has resulted in a unique style that they call ‘django pop’ based on virtuoso instrumental improvisations mixed in many genres. Their music is originally inspired by legendary Django Reinhardt, following the footsteps of Reinhardt by evoking the atmosphere of the 30s-40s and transfer it to today’s modern music milieu. The band members have already toured the world with National Philharmonic Orchestra (HU), the group Besh’o’drom, the Dohnányi Symphonic Orchestra (HU) and many more. They scored great success with their full house, sold-out concerts in the Palace of Arts (MÜPA) in Budapest, together with the Dohnányi Symphonic Orchestra from Budafok, in Debrecen’s Kölcsey Centre with the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra, and in the Városmajor Open Air Theatre in Budapest, with Stochelo Rosenberg, Roby Lakatos and Bangó Margit and many more.
Since their formation the band has been a solidary entity based on spiritual and musical friendship, and has given the most virtuoso concerts in Hungary, Europe and other countries/continents as well, to the greatest joy of their ever growing crowd of fans. Last year they have several big concerts in Vienna, Germany and Belgium and also a premier in Klagenfurt of their brand new concertshow the Vivaldi 4 Seasons – The Crossover Concert with sold-out and standing ovation. This is an evening of joyful music, where they will showcase their virtuosity and the versatile musicality of the band in the gypsy jazz genre that suits them best.

ROBY Lakatos is an internationally acclaimed Hungarian violin virtuoso who is a direct descendant of the legendary composer and verbunk master János Bihari, one of the virtuosos of Hungarian Romanticism.
ROBY Lakatos‘ violin playing, thanks to his epoch-making talent and the professional support of Yehudi Menuhin, has been heard in concerts from Carnegie Hall to the Vatican to London’s Albert Hall.
